Abstract
Objectives :The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of the Chuna therapy on shoulder for patients with chronic stroke.

Methods : The Chuna therapy on shoulder was applied to 26 hemiplegic patients who had been treated by general rehabilitation therapy after stroke for 2 weeks. The other 24 hemiplegic patients had only general rehabilitation therapy during the same period. Outcomes were assessed by visual analogue scale, medical research council scale, passive range of movement, meridian-electromyograph, and subluxation grade.

Results :The patients exhibited significant improvements on the visual analogue scale and passive range of movement but did not show significant results in medical research council scale, meridian-electromyograph and subluxation grade meaningful differences between sample and control group.

Conclusion :The Chuna therapy on shoulder may be an efficacious method of improving passive range of movement and pain of the affected shoulder of patients after stroke.
